Prof. Liwei Wang, received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) in 2018. After graduation, he led a few multimodal research projects in Tencent AI Lab Seattle lab, dedicated to combining natural language understanding and computer vision to solve artificial intelligence understanding and interaction problems. In December 2020, he joined the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an assistant professor. Professor Wang Liwei’s research includes natural language processing (NLP), and multimodal machine learning. Prof. Wang has published more than 40 papers in top computer vision and natural language processing conferences such as ACL, NAACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, etc. He had served as the Program Committee at the top international conferences of artificial intelligence (such as Area Chair of ECCV2022), and served as the editorial board member (associate editor) of IJCV, which is the top international computer vision journals. In recent years, Professor Wang Liwei’s team had won the first place in the 2020 Zhiyuan-JD Multimodal Dialogue Challenge, the first place in the CVPR 2021 referit3d multimodal competition, and the first place in the 2022 Language and Intelligence Challenge (Video Semantic Understanding task), which was organized by CCF and the Chinese Information Society.
