Town Hall Meeting Series – ChatGPT Seminar – Post event

CPII is pleased to announce that our Centre Director, Prof. Helen Meng, participated as a keynote speaker at the Town Hall Meeting Series – ChatGPT Seminar on 9 May 2023. The event is jointly organized by the Legislative Council Office of the Hon. Duncan Chiu, Legislative Council Office of the Hon. William WONG Kam-fai, Hong Kong Computer Society, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Alliance, and Hong Kong Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Society. Prof. Meng shared her insights on the topic of “Conversational AI, Generative AI, ChatGPT, GPTx, and Our Future”. Professor Sun Dong, JP, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau encouraged the AI talents in Hong Kong and expressed that Hong Kong has the potential for many achievements in the field of Generative AI with its computing capability, data and talent.

CPII is pleased to announce the jointly organized seminar “Conversational AI, Generative AI, ChatGPT, GPTx and our Future’ is successfully held 8 May 2023. Our Centre Director, Professor Meng gave a speech on the overview of different AI technologies and their impact on the future of work. Professor Meng emphasized that with the rapid development on AI technologies, people should be aware of the use of it and she stated some hidden crises of the answer provided by Generative AI. Professor Meng also gave some suggestions and methods to solve the problem such as some ongoing works filtering out risky input and responses.

CPII & HKSTP Seminar

CPII and HKSTP is co-organizing a seminar under the topic of “Conversational AI, Generative AI, ChatGPT, GPTx and our Future” on 8 May, 2023. InnoEX

CPII is pleased to announce that the first-ever InnoEX, jointly organised by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) is successfully held on 12th – 15th April. The Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry, Professor Sun Dong accompanied by the Acting Government Chief Information Officer, Mr Tony Wong, visited CPII’s booth and showed their support to Hong Kong’s I&T centre.

Under the theme of Smart Hong Kong Pavilion, CPII demonstrated the CPII AI Meeting Assistant, AI-based Personalized Design and Fabrication, Smart Augmentative and Alternative Communication, Edge AI Technologies for Infrastructure-assisted Autonomous Driving, Femtosecond Projection NanoPrinter, and the Everest – Fast Deep Video Analytics which can benefit to our society, received lots of appreciation from visitors.

Chinese University Alumni Magazine

CPII is pleased to announce that the interview of our Centre Director, Professor Helen Meng has been published in the Chinese University Alumni Magazine Issue 113, p.25. In the interview, Professor Helen Meng shared her newest innovations, including Speech and Language Analytics Toolkit, and expressed her thoughts on the impacts of AI development. She hopes that CPII can help to realise the promise of AI and leverage Hong Kong’s international research networks for AI talent development and exchange. She believes that The Chinese University of Hong Kong, as a comprehensive university, can strengthen the research and development in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

Huawei Hong Kong and Macau Partner Summit 2023

CPII is pleased to announce that our Centre Director, Prof Meng is invited to be one of the panelists at the Huawei Hong Kong and Macau Partner Summit 2023 on 12 April. Due to the rapid development of new technologies, the I&T industry in Hong Kong is facing a shortage of talent. At the summit, Prof Meng shared her professional insight on the current talent shortage problem in Hong Kong and provided some valuable suggestions. We believe that CPII and Huawei will keep putting effort into cultivating new workforce in our I&T field.

InnoEX Press Conference

CPII is participating in the first-ever InnoEX, jointly organized by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) on 12th – 15th April 2023 to present and demonstrate our six innovations. The 1st InnoEX taking place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), under the theme of “Connecting the World with Innovations for Better Living” attracts over 2600 international exhibitors and buyers, officials from Mainland China and ASEAN tech experts, research centres and thought leaders to promote cross-regional, cross-industry and cross-sector cooperation through I&T exchange. During the four-day event, we will demonstrate and show our new technologies including Conversational Intelligence, AI-based Personalized Design and Fabrication, Femtosecond Projection NanoPrinter, Edge AI Technologies for Infrastructure-Assisted Autonomous Driving, Everest – Fast Deep Video Analytics and Smart Augmentative and Alternative Communication. Spotlight – Hong Kong

CPII is pleased to announce that our centre has been broadcasted on the “Spotlight – Hong Kong” produced by Euronews in partnership with the Hong Kong SAR Government. In the episode, our Centre Director, Professor Helen Meng, explained the implementation of the “AI-based Personalised Product Design and Fabrication”. Professor Yam, one of our program leaders, and his team also slightly demonstrated the 3D human datasets and 3D weaving technology.

I&T New Era II

CPII is pleased to announce that our centre has been broadcasted on the 15th episode of “I&T New Era II”, jointly produced by the Innovation and Technology Commission (ITC) and Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK). In the episode, one of our program leaders, Professor Yam and his team introduced the “AI-based Personalized Product Design and Fabrication” and demonstrated the 3D human datasets and 3D weaving technology.

“I&T New Era II” broadcasts on RTHK TV 31 with 28 episodes. The series introduces the latest R&D projects and results of the 28 research laboratories under InnoHK.
